Employment Forecast for the Class of 2007
Good news for this year’s college grads in America:  The National Association of Colleges and Employees said its employer members plan to hire about 20 percent more graduates in 2007 than in 2006.Â
With the unemployment rate at 4.4 percent, competition for skilled workers is fierce. According to CareerBuilder.com, 79 percent of hiring managers plan to hire recent college grads. Add retiring baby boomers and business expansion to the mix and the future is bright for America’s college grads. Â
In China, however it is an entirely different situation.  In response to a help wanted ad for bathing and massaging workers, thousands of university graduates sent resumes and made calls for the jobs as waiters, cleaners, foot massagers, etc. that pay about $7.00 an hour. One graduate with a master’s degree not only applied for the receptionist position, but was willing to work without pay during the probationary period.Â
